This season (winter 2026), frost maps developed by CSIRO and GRDC are available in the DataFarming platform, including a new 30m (beta) resolution map alongside the 2km maps rolled out last season. These maps show where frost damage may have occurred, helping inform decisions such as cutting for hay or taking a crop through to harvest.

Built from satellite data, sharpened for your paddock

The underlying data is satellite-derived, then sharpened using topography and other landscape factors — including elevation, slope and cold air drainage — that change how frost settles across a property. Two low-lying paddocks only a few hundred metres apart can experience very different frost severity, and the model is built to reflect that.
