Interpreting Rapid EM (TM) Data
How to Read Your EM38 Map
1. Look for patterns, not single points
EM 38 Values correspond to the content of salt, clay, or moisture or combination of those. EM38 data is best interpreted as zones. Broad, consistent patches tell you more than isolated spikes.
2. Use zones to guide sampling
EM38 maps are ideal for targeted soil sampling. Sample within each conductivity zone to understand the drivers behind the variation.
3. Cross‑check with what you know
Ground‑truthing is essential. Compare EM38 zones with:
- Yield maps
- Soil tests
- Elevation/flow paths
- Visual field checks
