Tools to help with in-season nitrogen application

DataFarming provides several tools that can help you make informed decisions for in-season nitrogen (N) application, allowing you to apply N where it's most needed and avoid over- or under-application. Here's how:

1. Standard Imagery

Purpose: Tracks crop biomass and canopy health every 5 days at 10m resolution.

Use: Identify areas with low biomass that may benefit from additional nitrogen.

Benefit: Timely decisions—apply N based on real-time crop performance.

2. Prescription map Tool

Purpose: Creates management zones automatically based on NDVI variation and builds VRA (Variable Rate Application) maps from image data. You can also other indices like NDRE, PCD etc for creating zones.

Use: Divide your field into high, medium, and low-performing zones where you can assign rates. In addition to this, you can also choose how may zones and resolution you want as well as draw/edit manually wherever needed.

Benefit: Assign and export nitrogen rates (kg/ha) to apply during key growth stages (e.g., tillering, stem elongation) or depending on crop demand in each zone and export machine-ready shapefiles for uploading to your spreader or sprayer.

3. STACK Tool

Purpose: Combines multiple imagery layers into one zone map.

Use: Tailor nitrogen based on both soil and crop performance.

Benefit: More precise N targeting by accounting for long-term field variability.
